Abstract

Bronchopulmonary sequestration is a rare pulmonary malformation, usually occurring at an early age. It presents mainly with pneumonia and repetitive infections, respiratory distress and heart failure; rarely in aged patients presents with hemoptysis and chest pain. This article describes the clinical case of a 60-year-old male patient who presented an ischemic pulmonary sequestration and hemothorax.

Introduction

Bronchopulmonary sequestration is a rare pulmonary malformation, usually occurring at an early age. El secuestro pulmonar es una malformación pulmonar rara, presentándose generalmente en edades tempranas. Se presenta mayoritariamente con neumonías e infecciones repetidas, distrés respiratorio y falla cardíaca; raramente en pacientes de mayor edad se presenta con hemoptisis y dolor torácico.
