Abstract

Ovarian torsion is an uncommon, but severe disease in which time becomes a decisive factor for the functional viability of ovary affected.Included within the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain, success in the management of this condition is based on the speed of its diagnosis and subsequent treatment. However, confirmation and treatment can often be delayed.Fortunately, this was not so in the present case, as the clinician was able to maintain a high degree of suspicion, leading to a successful early surgical intervention that ended in a good outcome for the patient.
