Abstract

Fine dolomite-calcite sediments of Pleistocene to Recent age occur over a wide area in the south-east province of South Australia. Similar sediments are being formed in a number of saline lakes and in a shallow inlet of the sea. The origin of the dolomitic sediments is ascribed to elevated pH caused by plant growth in shallow saline water.
