Abstract

Lecturing is probably the most common teaching method used in higher education. However, it does not involve the student in the learning process. Student achievement is improved when students are involved in active rather than passive learning. This article focuses on how the Five-Step Lesson Guide was used by the author to move from the traditional lecture format to a more active mode of teaching in her Introduction to Occupational Therapy class.
