Abstract

EVIDENCE-BASED ANSWER There is no association between BMI and pregnancy rate in users of depot medroxyprogesterone, transdermal patch, intravaginal ring, intrauterine devices (IUD), and subdermal implants. The effect of body weight on oral contraceptives in general is unclear, although norethindrone acetate 1 mg/ethinyl estradiol 20 μg may not work as well (SOR: B, systematic review of RCTs and observational studies and 2 cohort studies).
