Abstract

ABSTRACT Counts of star-like images revealed that the elliptic galaxy NGC 5128 contains 15 + or - 60 m.e., globular clusters brighter than B approximately equal to 22.7. It is speculated that the extreme deficiency of globular clusters in NGC 5128 is related to the fact that this object is a field galaxy while the M 87 on the other hand is situated at the center of a rich cluster.
