Abstract

AbstractGDPR influences the way people define and use personal data. This study aims to discuss how the relationship between data subjects and data controllers in the healthcare context would be influenced under GDPR. We adopt the Key Mediating Variable, as a conceptual model, to reveal potential changes in the hospital‐patient relationship, specifically in terms of trust and commitment, as influenced by GDPR in the following five precursors: relationship termination costs, benefits, shared values of data, communication, and opportunistic behavior.
