Abstract
Adjunctive azithromycin (AZI) (plus usual cefazolin) antibiotic prophylaxis for unscheduled cesarean delivery (CD) reduced the risk of post-cesarean infection by ∼50% overall. Since non-Hispanic (NH) Black race-ethnicity is associated with a 2-3 fold increase in risks of maternal infection and death compared to NH Whites, we assessed whether adjunctive AZI reduces the disparity in infection.
