Abstract

To clarify whether trans- cis photoisomerization can be induced by an infrared laser in low temperature matrices, argon matrices of trans-2-butene and rans-1,2-dichloroethylene were irradiated with a TEA CO 2 laser. The results were negative, indicating that the multiple-photon absorption is suppressed in low-temperature matrices.
