Abstract

The article considers the architectural and urban planning complexes of Samara squares, named after the aircraft designer S.V. Ilyushin and the creator of space technology D.I. Kozlov, as components of «les lieux de mémoire», which include, along with sculptural, technical, museum components, also archival documents. These documents are not only stored in the Russian State Archives in the same city («RGA in Samara»), but they are also presented at its public exhibitions, including virtual ones. Thus, the artistic and emotional impact is combined with the scientific and educational effect, emphasizing the importance of «les lieux de mémoire» in the visible historical and cultural space of the Volga metropolis, which has become the bearer of aviation glory and space power of Russia.
