Abstract

Gender refers to psycho-socio-cultural characteristics and has been shown to be associated with an increased risk for recurrent acute coronary syndrome (ACS) regardless of biological sex. Whether sex hormones mediate this effect remains unknown. This study aims to examine the relationship between gender and sex hormones in adults hospitalized for ischemic heart disease (IHD) and their association with recurrent ACS.
