Abstract

The essential feature of neuroleptic drugs is the suppression of spontaneous and complex behaviour without reduction of consciousness or impairment of intellectual functions. It has been one of the dogmas of psychopharmacology that antipsychotic activity of neuroleptic drugs is inevitably associated with motor side-effects. In this article we therefore wish to advocate a limited use of neuroleptics in neurological therapy
