Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between intelligence and creativity with sexual desire and the extent to which education, sex, and age moderate this relationship. In doing so, a total of 168 students (74 males and 94 females) aged 18–35 years (M = 23; SD = 3.58) were selected using convenience sampling from three universities in Tehran, Iran and they were asked to complete a set of measures including Raven's Progressive Matrices, Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking, and Hurlbert Index of Sexual Desire. Data analysis indicated that neither intelligence nor creativity was correlated with sexual desire. Moreover, current findings showed that education and sex did not moderate the relationship between intelligence and creativity with sexual desire, while there was a positive relationship between intelligence and sexual desire at older ages. These results suggest that sexual desire is not influenced by intelligence or creativity and only age moderates the relationship between intelligence and sexual desire.
