Abstract

Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition may delay, but not prevent, the first signs of aging. This interesting effect was demonstrated in the Aging Processes and Perindopril (APRIL) study, an animal study conducted by the Groupe Recherche Servier in France. The investigation also highlighted the importance of differentiating between the effects of normal aging and age-related disease before embarking on the development of preventative strategies. Results of the study were presented at the 15th World Congress on Gerontology held earlier this month in Budapest, Hungary.
