Abstract

The June 2014 United Kingdom court judgement Tracey v Cambridge University Hospital & Others established an obligation to discuss DNAR (Do Not Attempt Resuscitation) orders with patients. Not discussing a DNAR decision was found to be a violation of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. 1 Tracey v Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Others EWCA Civ 822. 2014: 27 Google Scholar Anecdotal evidence in our hospital suggested we are not discussing DNAR orders with all patients particularly those with dementia.
