Abstract
Hb Leiden is an unstable β chain variant which has been previously reported in persons of Dutch (1-3), Chinese (4), South African (5), and Yugoslavian (6) heritage. Previous amino acid analysis has shown the deletion of a glutamic acid residue at either position 6 or 7 of the β chain; however, molecular analysis has not previously been published. We report here the DNA sequencing results on a patient heterozygous for Hb Leiden.
