Abstract

DNA analysis has provided more and more conclusive evidence in many proceedings to exonerate or convict defendants, since genetic science proved that individuals of a species show unique DNA (unless they are monozygotic twins) that allows one to identify their species and themselves as unique individuals belonging to that species [1]. Despite the fact that 99.9% of the DNA of individuals of the same species is the same for all individuals, there are enough differences that may identify a single individual as unique.
