Abstract

The Dubowitz neuromuscular service has large clinical and research services for boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Many drug, therapy and natural history studies are conducted annually. Over 300 boys both ambulant and non-ambulant, are seen for clinical assessment and management yearly. When developing natural history studies and drug trials for boys with DMD, not all are able to co-operate with rigorous assessment procedures. In order to provide an objective assessment tool to monitor compliance with clinical or research assessments, we developed a novel ``behaviour rating scale''.
