Abstract

This exploratory study of 28 male and female participants in a divorce support group sought to determine the prevalence of a mid-life transition or crisis among divorced individuals and role of a mid-life crisis in the etiology of divorce. Findings provided support for the reality of a mid-life transition and/or crisis for a majority of the participants and for the salience of a mid-life crisis as a factor In their divorce; yet the subjects were significantly more likely to perceive their spouses' mid-life crisis as related to the divorce than their own crisis.
