Diverticular Disease of the Colon is another good, informative book in the series of monographs published by Saunders. It details the problems of diagnosis and treatment associated with the surgical management of diverticular disease of the colon. In the preface Dr. Colcock points out that everyone may not agree with what he says but that his opinion is a distillate of many years of experience. Hopefully these experiences can be transmitted in some degree to the less experienced surgeon. Because of the personal style in which the book is written, certain aspects of the author's philosophy of surgery are expressed which extend its value beyond a mere compendium of experience.
