Abstract

Spiders of the genus Tmarus Simon, 1875 from the Xiaolong Mountains in Gansu Province, China, were studied. A total of seven species are reported and illustrated, including one new species, T. subqinlingensis sp. nov., and six known species, T. orientalis Schenkel, 1963, T. piger Walckenaer, 1802, T. qinlingensis Song & Wang, 1994, T. rimosus Paik, 1973, T. taibaiensis Song & Wang, 1994 and T. zhui Sherwood & Li, 2021. The female of T. taibaiensis is described for the first time. Detailed morphological characters, photos and illustrations of the habitus and genital organs are given. DNA barcodes (a partial fragment of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene, COI) of T. taibaiensis Song & Wang, 1994 were obtained to confirm matching of the sexes and for future use in molecular studies.
