Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 5: 431-437. KGPAA Mangkunagoro I Forest Park is a Forest Park located on the slopes of Mount Lawu, precisely in Berjo Village, Ngargoyoso District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. This area has biodiversity potential, one of which is birds. Birds are group of higher animals that have a higher number of species than other groups of animals and are distributed in almost all conditions of the earth’s environment. The aim of this study was to determine the diversity of diurnal bird species in the KGPAA Mangkunagoro I Forest Park, which was conducted in January-February 2019. The method used is the line transect method by listing bird species and counting the number of individuals on a predetermined path. Analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis using the diversity index, evenness index, dominance index, and species richness index. The results of data collection in each path are then tested with PAST to compare the diversity of species in each path. The results obtained were as many as 51 bird species belonging to 25 families with a diversity index throughout the region of 3.533; evenness index 0.898; dominance index 0.060; and a species richness index 8.902, which means that it belongs to the high level of species diversity. The species of birds found were as many as five protected species based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 106 of 2018, including Javan Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi), Crested Serpent Eagle (Spilornis cheela), Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), Flame-fronted Barbet (Psilopogon armillaris) and Red-breasted Parakeet (Psittacula alexandri). Keywords: diurnal bird, diversity, KGPAA Mangkunagoro I Forest Park
