Abstract

To deepen our understanding of the gas-solid magnetized fluidized bed (MFB) and further promote its commercial application, it is of urgent need to clarify the sophisticated branches. The diversity of gas-solid MFBs stemmed mainly from the variety of applied magnetic fields. They could be classified into four broad categories: MFB with uniform steady magnetic field, MFB with gradient steady magnetic field, MFB with oscillating magnetic field, and MFB with transverse rotating magnetic field. For each type, the specific problems encountered in gas-fluidized beds were first introduced. Then actual performances of exerting the magnetic field were reviewed in detail. Thereafter, how the applied magnetic field worked was deeply analyzed. Additionally, various devices for generating the magnetic field were included. By providing a panoramic view, the work done here could help future scholars discriminate the reported findings and further fabricate the right form of gas-solid MFBs to achieve their own goals.
