Abstract
Recent evidence indicates that future increases in atmospheric CO2 concentration may lead to significant increases in methane emissions from wetlands. Based on the concurrent eddy covariance measurements of CH4 and CO2 fluxes, we examine the relationship between CH4 emission and net ecosystem production in freshwater wetlands. Also, we briefly discuss the current concerns of the micrometeorological community on the long-term monitoring of these greenhouse gases.
