Abstract

Among several dithiocarbamate compounds showing insecticidal activity against Psylla pyricola Foerster, mancozeb 80% WP and Dikar® 80% WP (a 15:1 mixture of maneb plus dinocap) at 9.0 kg/ha are effective against all stages of nymphs, but not against eggs or adults. Toxicity of spray residues on foliage to newly hatched nymphs persists for several weeks. Control can be effected by maintaining adequate cover with spray residues, particularly on new foliage on which adults prefer to feed and oviposit. Mancozeb and Dikar have little effect on predaceous insects found on pear trees.
