Abstract
SINCE 1941 the literature abounds in glowing clinical reports of the beneficial effects of the topical use of tyrothricin, especially in the field of otolaryngology. Crowe and associates<sup>1</sup>since 1942 have made many contributions to the literature describing this as a safe bactericidal substance especially efficient in infection of the sinuses. This observation has been confirmed and reported by others over the past six years. This has led many of the leading pharmaceutic houses to market preparations containing various concentrations of this material for use as nose drops. With the earlier preparations difficulty was experienced in keeping the solution stable and potent. This has been overcome in the past year or so by the addition of various preservatives, and physicians have been heavily detailed on the excellent qualities of these solutions. We ourselves were convinced of the efficacy of these solutions and until recent months had been enthusiastically prescribing
