Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between distributive justice, immanent justice and egocentrism in children. Twenty‐one preschoolers and 24 second graders completed the Distributive Justice Scale, responded to immanent justice stories, and participated in an adaptation of Piaget's mountain task. Results indicated a significant correlation between immanent justice and egocentrism. Second graders were found to be less egocentric and reflected less immanent justice than preschoolers. Results were discussed in terms of current theory and research on moral development in children.
