Abstract

Variables affecting the hydraulic characteristics of water distribution systems comprising a single pumping station, a pipe network and single elevated storage site are reduced to generalized parameters. Graphical presentation of results for typical demand variations are replaced by empirical equations, and examples are given for the direct use of these equations in design. Results presented reveal limitations in some contemporary concepts.
