Abstract
All identifiable sources of harmonics should be investigated and documented since harmonic content is increasing on power circuits. In this research 123 randomly selected 15, 25 and 50 kVA transformers were tested for total harmonic distortion (THD) and harmonic identification. Current data from each transformer was obtained at rated and 110% of rated voltage, and analyzed by a dynamic signal analyzer. High values of THD were observed. Operation above rated voltage should be avoided and sample testing of recent bulk purchases is recommended.
