Abstract

A conformal transfonnation is found for the description of the complex potential in a quadrupole deflector with a refractive index gradient directed along the optic axis of a crystal. An expression is obtained for field distortions due to the edge effects. The results are given of an experimental determination of the distribution of the refractive index in deflectors with electrodes of different shapes. The experimental results are in good agreement with those found analytically.
