Abstract The recently enlarged sampling of star clusters in the Small Magellanic Cloud (S MC) is examined to deduce the geometrical properties of the cluster system. A conspicuous central nonuniformity, a general, roughly elliptical main body of clusters, and an extension toward the SMC wing are found. The radial distribution of the clusters shows an exponential decrease with a gradient similar to that for the brightest stars.
