Abstract
The distribution of cobalt, chromium, iron, zinc, lanthanum and scandium throughout biological sections of carp, CYPRINUS CARPIO, taken from the Danube River and Danube Canal from August 1973 to March 1974 was studied. The values for the metal ions found in the gills resemble the values for suspended solids. Co, Cr, Fe, and Zn tended to concentrate in the liver and kidneys. Co accumulated somewhat in the bone tissue. Zinc concentrations in bone were somewhat higher than those in the flesh or muscle. Lanthanum and scandium concentrated in the bone tissue. These data seem to indicate that although the distribution in the fish is not uniform, the metals studied tended to concentrate in the edible portions. (ND)
