Abstract

The distribution of a random sum of the cell dwell times (CDTs) for a complete call in a wireless network is derived in terms of a weighted sum of Erlang distributions. The weights are found to be functions of the moments of the cell dwell time. To validate the derived results by computer simulation, the gamma, Weibull, Pareto, and lognormal distributions for the CDT are considered.
