Abstract

The paper presents the results of a quantitative study of radio distribution in and about the cities of New York and Washington, District of Columbia. The wide variations of attenuation over different kinds of territory, the causation of radio shadows or dead spots, and the phenomena of refraction and diffraction are all illustrated by the data and curves. Radio field strength contour maps of the two territories are presented.
