Abstract

Using a soil-baiting technique with rice seedlings, Pythium amhenomanes was detected in 47% of rice soils sampled from across the Riverine Plain. Sites positive for the fungus were widely distributed with a greater percentage of sites occurring on the heavier soils. The fungus was isolated from 44% of soils sampled from pasture and from 48% of rice-stubble sites
