Abstract

This paper presents first comprehensive record of Pliocene Radiolaria from Leg 119, Site 745 of the Antarctic region. Twenty five samples were taken from two sections, viz. 14H and 15H, from Kerguelen Plateau in the Southern Ocean region. Thirty well preserved species were determined. Diversification and distribution of radiolarians in the sections were examined. On the basis of appearance and disappearance of taxa, one zone, i.e. Upsilon, is recognized, which is equivalent to the earlier established NR5 zone.
