Abstract

ABSTRACT TWO types of overhead frost protection sprinkler systems were evaluated to determine how the uniformity of distribution is changed by developing apple tree foliage. Uniformity coefficients in the upper third of the tree remained nearly equal to those computed when the tree was not present independent of the stage of bud and leaf development. Uniformity coefficients computed in the lower half of the trees decreased at an average rate of 3.5 to 4.0% per bud development stage index.
