Abstract

(1) Fluoride concentrations in the waters of Tokyo Bay are 0.63 to 1.27 mg/Kg, and the fluoride to chlorinity ratios are 6.71 to 8.76×10−5. (2) The fluoride contents indicate that the surface waters in the western part of Tokyo Bay are different in properties of waters from those in the eastern part. (3) Fluoride concentrations in river-mouth waters flowing to the western part of Tokyo Bay are 0.15 to 1.07 mg/l, and the fluoride to chlorinity ratios are 1.4×10−4 to 3.6×10−2 which are much higher than those in the waters of Tokyo Bay. (4) The influence of industrial activities on the fluoride to chlorinity ratios in the waters of Tokyo Bay is negligible, because the exchanging volume and exchange rate of the waters in Tokyo Bay are very large.
