Abstract

The Provisional List of the Land Mammals of the State of Washington (Taylor and Shaw, 1929) gives a rough outline of the range of the native cottontail rabbit. During the past several years a number of records have been obtained that make it possible to show the distribution of this mammal in the State with considerable accuracy. Since the list was published at least four successful plantings of cottontail rabbits from the eastern part of the United States also have been made. In view of these facts it is thought advisable to review the status of the genus Sylvilagus in Washington.'
