Abstract

A new method to evaluate distribution functions of electric field gradients in solids from Mossbauer absorption spectra is proposed. The spectrum is expressed by a formula whose denominator and numerator are polynomials of Doppler velocity v . The application to an amorphous substance shows that very few terms of the polynomials are required to reproduce the observed spectrum. The obtained distribution function was given by the sum of two Lorentz distributions.
