Abstract

AbstractThe cartography of eel population in Brittany and Lower Normandy shows that the fitting out of rivers may be considered as the essential degradation factor of eel distribution. The setting up of not passable dams and the multiplication of partially passable dams also reduces eel stocks of numerous rivers. The improvement of eel migratory paths should be constituted a priority of protection and restoration of the natural stock.
