Abstract

Twenty-five species bordering clear-cut strips were classified according to their propensity to produce epicormic branches. The phenomenon occurred on 11 species, mostly on intermediate trees of average health and growing in medium density stands. Epicormic branching appeared generally below the crown on trees bordering the clear-cut. These results are consistent with the literature. They also verify the lack of correlation between the number of epicormic branches and tree mensuration data.
