Abstract

The phenol, propylene glycol, and styrene distribution in water–organic compound–supercritical CO2systems at 313 and 323 K and 9.5 to 20 MPa was studied by the fluid recirculation technique in a flow apparatus. The distribution coefficient of phenol under these conditions was estimated within the isothermal–isobaric evaporation model using Soave's cubic equation of state. The distribution coefficient of phenol was also calculated within the dilute solution approximation. The effects of propylene glycol and styrene on the phase equilibrium in the water–phenol–supercritical CO2system were studied.
