Abstract

Chronology of appearance and distribution in the Kamchatka River basin of a new representative of freshwater ichthyofauna on the peninsula—Barbatula toni—is presented. The data are reviewed on its size-weight composition, individual fecundity, and feeding in the floodplain lake Kurazhechnoye (the middle reaches of the Kamchatka River). With consideration of stable reproduction of Barbatula toni it is assumed that in the nearest years its abundance may increase, its distribution in the Kamchatka River basin may expand, and it may penetrate other river systems of the peninsula.
