Abstract

The surface 3 cms of sediment from 177 samples were taken from Georgian Bay and the North Channel in 1973. Continuous echo-sounding was used to characterise and map the sediment distribution. Samples were analysed for practicle size, major element and trace metals. The samples were grouped according to their distribution in accumulating basins or non-depositional zones and means calculated for each parameter measured. The general composition was placed in context by comparison to similar analyses in Lakes Huron and Superior.
