Abstract

An experiment of meadow saline soil improvement with some farming, biological and chemical measures as well as the improvement of irrigation works is carried out in the northern piedmont of the Tianshan Mountains. The results show that the available Mn content in the improved soil varies in a range of 1.59~4.90 mg/kg.The distribution of available Mn content in the improved soil is in an order of 0~15 cm 15~30 cm ≥30~60 cm at the early stage of the experiment,an order of 0~15 cm ≥15~30 cm 30~60 cm at the metaphase, and basically an order of 0~15 cm 15~30 cm 30~60 cm at the late stage. The available Mn content in soil of 0~60 cm in depth is slightly decreased in the Melilotus suaveolens field where organic fertilizer with plaster is applied, and there is no obvious increase of available Mn content in soil of 15~30 cm and 30~60 cm in depth in the field where there is no vegetation. The total content of available Mn in soil varies in a range of 767.51~914.42 mg/kg,and its distribution is constantly in an order of 0~15 cm 15~30 cm 30~60 cm.The total Mn content in soil is slightly increased with an increase rate less than 15%.Mn accumulation occurs in soil layer of 0~30 cm in the Melilotus suaveolens field where organic fertilizer is applied.
