Abstract
Charge cancellation initiated by strain change of a continuous piezoelectric layer can significantly impact the performance. The proposed analytical model presents a cantilever with tip mass segmented bimorph piezoelectric for higher modes of vibration considering the effect of strain nodes. The bimorph piezoelectric segments are connected in parallel with an external resistive load. The electromechanical coupling factors and electric circuit equations are derived under the distributed-parameter extended Hamilton beam assumptions along with harmonic base translation without rotatory motion. These computed solutions are in good agreement with simulation using finite element method COMSOL software, as well as experimental data, which are mentioned in the literature.
