Abstract

This paper describes microprocessor-based distributed control system for a typical process plant—a modern chemical plant. The microprocessor based controls execute the tasks best suited to their capabilities, but several loops have analogue controls which are integrated into the system to provide control where the sampling interval would be detrimental. Control loops fully utilize the logic and calculation capabilities of the microprocessor controls.
