Abstract

Propagation of the ultrawideband signals of deep-sensing radars in the ionosphere is studied in the presence of small-scale random fluctuations of the plasma density. Simulation of the signal distortions caused by the joint influence of phase distortions in a regular layered dispersive medium and scattering of radio waves by the small-scale random irregularities of the ionospheric plasma is performed. The influence of scattering by the small-scale irregularities on operation of the algorithms for correction of the phase distortions of signals in a regular ionosphere is investigated. Stability of operation of the studied correction algorithms under the conditions of signal scattering by the irregularities of the ionospheric plasma is demonstrated.
