Abstract

Notch filters, ordinarily used in the physiology laboratory to remove power-frequency ripple from neural spike signals, may introduce unacceptable distortion into neural or other pulsed data. The commonplace parallel-T RC filter is much worse in this respect than bridged-T or active filters and should be avoided if possible.
